Grass Stain Removal
What causes it
Chlorophyll and plant proteins press into fibre during friction from sport or play. Chlorophyll is oil-soluble and binds tightly to cotton, so a plain wash rinses around it, not out of it.
How to remove it
- 1Brush off dry soil first.
- 2Dab isopropyl alcohol to break down the chlorophyll.
- 3Rub in an enzyme detergent and wait 15 minutes.
- 4Wash on the warmest safe cycle.
- 5Repeat before drying if a green cast remains.
Written for sportswear and denim. Avoid enzymes on wool and silk.
