Terms of Service

1. The service

Stain Identifier uses AI to identify stains from photographs and suggests removal steps. Identifications and instructions are informational suggestions produced by an automated system. They are estimates, not professional cleaning, conservation or chemical advice.

2. Free scan limit

Unsubscribed users receive one free scan in total, enforced per account and per device. Creating additional accounts on the same device to obtain more free scans is not permitted.

3. Subscriptions and auto-renewal

Subscriptions are offered as Weekly at $4.99 per week and Yearly at $19.99 per year, which includes a 3-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel at any time in your store account settings; deleting the app does not cancel billing. If you take the free trial, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. One-time purchases — the $1.99 single-result unlock and Expert Review ($9.99 Standard, $14.99 Priority) — do not auto-renew.

4. Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, so refunds are handled under their policies. Contact them directly for refund requests.

5. Limitation of liability for stain-removal advice

You use the app's suggestions at your own risk. Always test any solution on a hidden area first. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stain Identifier and its operators are not liable for any damage, loss of colour, shrinkage, staining, discolouration, degradation, injury, or other harm to garments, upholstery, carpets, footwear, bags, vehicle interiors, surfaces, property or persons arising from following advice provided by the app, including damage to delicate, vintage, antique, leather, suede, silk, dry-clean-only, or professionally-treated materials. Where the app recommends professional care, do not attempt a DIY treatment. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

6. Expert Review (paid add-on)

Expert Review is a one-time purchase for a personalized written response about a single scan. Both tiers provide a professional opinion based only on the photo and description you submit. It is not an in-person inspection, no physical assessment of the material is performed, and it is not a guarantee of outcome.

• Standard — $9.99: response within 24 hours of submission, at any time of day.
• Priority — $14.99: response within 3-6 hours, available only for requests submitted during our coverage hours of 9am-9pm Eastern Time. Requests submitted outside those hours are handled as Standard (24 hours) and this is disclosed to you before purchase.

Coverage hours are evaluated on our servers in Eastern Time, not on your device clock, so eligibility does not change with your location or device settings.

Refunds: if we miss the response window that applied to your request, you receive a full automatic refund. You do not need to contact us or dispute the charge — every request records its submission time, its due time, and whether a response was sent, and missed windows are refunded automatically. No refund is given for advice you consider unsatisfactory where a response was delivered within the window.

Because the opinion is based on limited photo information, Stain Identifier is not liable for outcomes if the reviewer's assessment turns out to be incorrect, and liability is limited as described in section 5.

7. Find a Vetted Pro (referrals)

Find a Vetted Pro is a referral service only. Stain Identifier is not a party to any agreement or transaction between you and a third-party cleaning or restoration professional. We are not responsible for that professional's work quality, pricing, scheduling, availability, conduct, or any damage or loss occurring during their service. Any dispute arising from their service is between you and that professional directly. Verify their credentials, insurance and quotation yourself before authorising work.

8. Acceptable use

Do not upload photos containing other people's private information, unlawful content, or images you have no right to share. Do not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the service.

9. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend accounts that abuse the free-scan limit or these terms.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. Questions: support@stainidentifier.app
